School-based Prevention Research Program

About the School-based Prevention Research Program in the PRC

Research in the School-based Research Program Area focuses on the delivery of preventive interventions in pre-K–12 educational settings. Given the time spent by children and youth in these buildings, the important socializing influence of these institutions, and the co-morbidity of learning and mental disorders, this focus is vital to youth outcomes.

The primary mission of studies in this program area is to refine public health models of prevention in educational settings. An assumption underlying this work is that these settings are unique in terms of their structure, climate, and philosophy, and that these characteristics must be taken into account in order to be successful in developing interventions for use in them.
